Sick Baby Girl

Elena has been sick...a couple of weeks ago she had a runny nose that got nasty so we decided to take her to the doc just to make sure she was ok. She was her normal self just happy and content as alway but we just wanted to be sure. She ended up having inflammation in her ears, one worse than the other, so the doc prescribed some antibiotics, I was glad that we had taken her in.

As she was finishing her meds she developed a cough and we just figured it was all part of the junk she had. Then on Wednesday night she felt hot to me, we took her temperature and it was normal she did wake up and was acting a little weird but she just fell asleep again, then suddenly I woke at around 4:00 am and I went to check on her and she felt really hot this time. I took her temperature and it was about 100 or 101, at this point Todd was awake too and he got some Tylenol for her and some water, a little later she fell asleep again. I was so glad that I woke up!

That same morning I decided that I would stay home with her, she was fine throughout the day but then in the evening we decided to take her to the doc she still had some inflammation in her ears but the doc didn't know if it was going down or coming back since she was recently on antibiotics. He thought maybe she had a nasal infection so we had to get more meds for her. She did get another fever that night so again with the fever reducer stuff (it is a good thing the medications taste good). So the next day I stayed home with her again since the sitter isn't allowed to take a child with any sort of infection without being on antibiotics for at least 24 hours, either way I would have had to take her back home because she got a fever again. Poor baby....at this point she wasn't her usual smiley and happy self. She had fevers almost the whole day!

By Saturday she had stopped having fevers but she was in a terrible mood....she was getting so whiny so we didn't know if something was hurting or what but she has never really acted like that before. She was kind of acting the same way on Sunday, she also had trouble sleeping I guess it was all apart of the sickiness. Today she did a lot better, she sort of had trouble getting up this morning, she was just so tired...but she was back to her usual self again!!

Movie

Yesterday we went to see a movie....all six of us. We went to see "Horton hears a Who!" I really liked it, it was really cute and it had a lot of humor, and that is always good. Todd fell asleep about two minutes into it, he wanted to see it but we all just stayed up way too late the night before. Elena was interested for a little while but then she started getting bored and of course started to fuss, so then Todd grabbed her and took her out he didn't mind since he had already missed half of the movie anyway. During the middle of the movie the projector (or whatever it is called) gave out which was totally weird, I have never been to a movie and have that happen so it took a little while to get it going again. We all enjoyed the movie and even Christopher, he didn't want to see it because he thought it was too kiddie for him. Todd will have to see it another time I guess, maybe when it comes out at RedBox.

Gone

Elena and I are home alone tonight until some time tomorrow evening because Todd went to St. George earlier today with one of his brothers, it was a great opportunity for him to relax and hang out with his family down there. He was pretty hesitant to go at first but I told him that he should go because I thought he would have a great time. I knew I would miss him but I didn't want him to regret not going. He called me at about 8:00pm or so and we chatted for a while but it feels weird to know that I won't see him until tomorrow night. I think that being at work will make it a lot easier that he is gone since I don't get to see him during the day anyway....at least that is what I am hoping for. Before he left he sent Elena and I a sweet message and it made me want to cry (just when I thought that I was handling it so well!) I went straight to my parent's house after work so that I could just hang out and not think about Todd being gone. We got home a little after nine and I got Elena to bed at about 9:30 (surprise since the time change) and I have been busy with some laundry and of course updating this blog a bit. Anyway Todd told me he would call me before he went to bed so I have to go a wait for his call!

Finally!

So we finally got air conditioning!! Yay, we don't have to melt this summer or use 500 different cooling methods! It is going to be so awesome, although I will probably later complain that I am too cold and have a blanket wrapped around me j/k. In my book, last year was the hottest summer and trying to keep a baby cool was pretty hard but we did ok I guess, Elena didn't fuss too much. I was just glad that we were able to keep cool with some sort of unit without getting in trouble with the HOA. This year we won't have to worry about that at all! Now I don't know what we will do with all the units we have...

It's Official

So I am now officially a soccer mom but without the soccer team! Yes....we got a van! It is a Honda Odyssey. We have had it for a week now and I really like it. At first I thought it would be weird to drive, I thought maybe it would feel huge like a suburban does but it doesn't feel that way at all. It kind of made me feel old or something but I am getting used to it (not feeling old but getting used to the van). It is definitely so much easier than having to take two cars everywhere we go when it is all 6 of us. It is also so much easier to get Elena in and out of it. I will miss my car...she has been good to me. She won't be far away though...my dad is going to buy her which is funny because I got it from him. Anyway I am sure someone will make fun of me for it but that is ok I won't worry much about it. it has some power to it so that is fun. I am glad that we were finally able to get something to fit us all!

Having fun

Last weekend when the kids were over Christopher asked if he could put Elena in a basket....I was a little hesitant at first but then I replied "just as long as you put something in it to cushion her". Well I am really glad I said yes otherwise we wouldn't have this cute picture! Elena was really having fun while Critter pulled her along (carefully of course) but then after a while Shannon and Ellie also wanted in on pulling her and started fighting about who's turn it was. I really didn't expect Critter to fill it up so much so that she would be entertained, I just thought maybe he would put a pillow in it or something. He went all out to accommodate her so that she would be comfortable....so sweet of him!!
